I just read through the rest of the posts. Mandy -- I think most everyone would see the bat had to be sacrificed for testing -- much preferable than you having to go through painful and sometimes dangerous rabies shots! I know we all love all creatures, great and small but sometimes it cannot be helped.
(Hope I don't bring more wrath for killing my palmetto bug....
( Seriously, I am sorry you had to go through the whole ordeal. I know you would rather have not even met the bat, let alone have him tested for rabies.
