I would say go for it. From my experience they just need a bit time to get used to each other. What really helps is when they meet the first time on a place where they both are not used to.

It is also important that you establish right from the beginning that you are the boss and pack leader for both.

Oh... and I think it's very positive that the lady said that her girl is "not a small Yorkie" and was not talking about tea cups which is a red flag in such a situation.

There are many situations where you might not be able to take your dog for example when you move to Great Britain or Hawaii (well... you can if you want to wait out the 6 months of quarantine in an uncertain environment...)
