Mine will sometimes drink a lot too, usually in the morning when he first gets up. Once he drank so much I could hear the water sloshing in his belly when he ran. It seems he was so thirsty during the night but since he couldn't get out of his crate to drink he overdoes it when he does get up. But if it were happening frequently or throughout the day they should be checked for health problems.
