The first week that we had Tuffy he slept in his crate in our bedroom. After the first week...he started crying & crying & as my husband & I had to go to work at 5 am...we decided to move the crate into the kitchen. We left the crate open & blocked off the kitchen so he had to stay in that room. He stayed in the kitchen while we were at work....& right away he started using the pee pee pads. When we were at home he was not confined to the kitchen. After a few months...he started coming upstairs to our bedroom to sleep. We had a little bed there for him...& we would put a pee pee pad down. Soon he was trained to go to the bathroom outside & he started letting us know that he wanted to come up onto our bed (My husband & I always had said we wouldn't let him sleep with us....but... guess what???) LOL. He found his way into our hearts & into our bed. (Well...actually... he had our hearts the very first day). Anyway...we moved his crate into the living room (with the door open) & now he's in & out of it. He spends more time in there now because we're usually in the living room. He has now decided that he's a big boy (he'll be 2 in August) & usually does not want to sleep with us. He sleeps in the crate or on the couch. Once in a while he graces us with his presence. LOL. I don't force him to come upstairs because he's usuall nice & cozy by the time we go up. My hubby whistles for him to come up...but I say... don't force him if he's comfy where he is. The other night...at 1am I took him with me to pick up my daughter & when we got in front of the house he slipped out of his harness & started running around. It was so dark...I couldn't see him. He ran across the street then & my daughter was able to catch him. THAT NIGHT.....I MADE HIM SLEEP IN OUR BED. LOL. I wanted to know that he was safe...right next to me. Sorry for blabbing so much. LOL. Good luck with your baby. Ro
