I was wondering if it was okay to leave him in the pen all night by himself? Should I take his bed out of the pen and bring it into my bedroom at night so he his in the same room with me? I've been reading a lot of threads and seems a lot of people have their pups in their BR's at night..I just want to be sure. It's been so long since I raised a puppy, I am unsure about so many things, more so then I thought!
I think it's great that your planning ahead and thinking of these things before bringing home your new puppy.
I also live in a 2 bedroom Apt. I did not use a crate or ex-pen though. JUst Pee pads , in the hall way where I discovered this was Suzi's preference of pottying. I used 4 pads and spread them out . If she did not poop on the pad, i placed the poo on the pad , it was not long until she knew where to go Poop .
I did not however, allow her to sleep on bed for a few months. NOT until she was able to jump on and off the bed all by herself safely. She had her own bed in my room , and would choose anywhere she wanted to sleep . Sometimes it was a pillow, or a blanket too, she was always very close to my bed. As soon as she could jump om the bed , she has chosen to sleep on the bed . Which is delightful. Suzi waits every night for me to go to bed first, and then she jumps on the bed too.
I really did not have too many potty issues with her. Even if she does miss the pad , I just clean it up> She now goes usues the bathroom outside too on walks no problems.
