Thanks everyone for you input.

Here is the update

Day 5

2:00 am, Osito is found moving around in crate and there is a ominous smell. He apparently had to go and used the one side of the crate as the bathroom. Good for the most part, it looks like he started to go on his bedding but moved over to a corner to finish. I took him out to clean up the mess; he followed me around and then was put back to bed. Not sure if this good or bad, but he didn’t cry or whine when he needed to go.

Later that morning he was taken out first thing, and he successfully used the PA (potty area) twice. There is play and resting with each other. He really likes to cuddle with the both of us. It is rumored that the male Yorkies cuddle more than the females, but we don’t know for sure. He is becoming accustomed to playing for a while and then going back to his crate. I felt he was ready to rest before I was. He placed himself in the crate to lie down. At the moment we let him out and interact with him anywhere between half-hour to an hour and then place him in the crate. We play for 10-15 min and then just watch him or have him near us the rest of the time.

He has one minor accident before I left, but it was close to the PA.

Today he’ll be left home alone longer then normal. Jane is out of town and I’ll be at work later than normal. He might end up having to use his crate again. I don’t have the newspaper anymore in the crate because he is chewing it up. We are debating using a substitute material.. I don’t know if he’ll be getting confused by this.

Osito did have to stay home alone longer than normal, as I did not get back until an hour and a half later than I normally do. He did soil his crate, but he did manage to use the designated area. We will start leaving newspaper inside when need to be away. Jane and I discussed it and we don’t want Osito getting confused.

When I arrived he was very excited to see me and was bouncing off the wall with all that energy to play. He used the PA successfully twice, but had one minor accident on the hardwood. The 2nd time he was watching me do something in the kitchen, suddenly he let out a small yelp and bolted to the PA. He made me proud by using it for number two. LOL, yes I was happy to see him poo! He has been having trouble getting number two to land on the paper.

Sidenote: Osito found of Jane’s socks and absolutely loved it. He took into his crate before I left him alone during the day; he didn’t seem to care that I left. She had to be away this weekend, so I guess that why he really enjoys it. I tried giving him one of my socks, but he didn’t take it.
