Animal Smiley 049 Bladder stones-New to forum

Hello
My name is Terri
I have a 7 yr old female yorkie and I have suspected since she had puppies last may her urinary behavoir changed.
Took her to vet and she had bacterial infection,
Put on on meds and still problem.
I suspected stones.
Took her to a vet for xrays today and she has lots of bladder stones.
Tomorrow I find out when she gets surgery.
It has been a nightmare getting up and down all night with her.
I told the breeder about her urinary change and she said it was probably nothing but it was and i could tell she was trying to pee but couldnt.
The vet said they are not the calcium type, but she will need to go on a special diet of purina urinary food or walthums? anyway its 15.00 for a 8 pound bag.
Does anyone know of anytrhing cheaper that works.
I cried all day because I thought I was going to have to have her put to sleep..
I believe she got a uti after having pups and it caused the stonesa going untreated because I did not know she had one until her pee patern turned into pee in the house and no pee but trying and blodd in urinalisius..
Do any of you think that having pups caused the stones?

I wanted to breed her one more time but obviously I cant even though she is in heat and needs surgery.
It would be inhumane.
The vet said this is the first case of bladder stones in a yorkie he has seen.
Any help will be appreciated. I love my dog to death, she comforts me when I am upset and my cat thinks she is the dogs mother
thanks Terri
