Well, first I'll state the obvious...put the shoes where she can't get at them. Or, possibly a better solution would be to confine her to a small area when you aren't home and provide alternative safe things to chew on.

I feel for you. Ginger is a paper hound. People tell me to keep it out of reach. Ack! Do you have any idea how much paper is in your home on a daily basis? We've gotten really good at keeping it away from her, but have never been successful in training her not to eat it. (and here I am trying to give you advice). We have gotten her to quit eating chords, wooden chairs, etc., just by providing alternative (and more exciting) chew toys, using bitter apple (someone rec. deoderant earlier today and that seems brilliant) and being consistent.

I would think with shoes, a combination of the above would work. Fortunately, there are a finite # of shoes in your home.
