Up on the porch it's actually more amusing than scary, they can't reach you and it's fun watching them roll around in the grass.
My family has had several encounters with these bears, in fact my son was staying at the chalet alone one night and was grilling a hamburger. Well he turned around and saw a bear not three feet behind him! But my son was smart and knew that the bear really wanted the meat so he flipped the burger in the bushes behind him. While the bear went after the burger my son ran into the house! |
