Had dogs growing up, added cats as a senior in HS. Always had mutt dogs and cats. Got my first Yorkie in 1980 bc I had always wanted one since I can remember. Same with a Himalayan cat. First Yorkie (Corey) was stolen, got the 2nd (Sophie Anne) in 1982. Got the best mutt cat ever(Razz) in 1988. Neighbor was abusing his Maltese, we offered to take him and did (Little Lou) in 1989. Found kitten by busy roadside (KittyMonsta) in 1990. Someone dumped a GSD mix (Biggy D) in our yard in 1991. We kept her. KittyMonsta passed in 1994. Sophie Anne passed in 2000. Adopted stray cat found being led into traffic by children in 2001 (mrKitKat). Rescued current Yorkie (Peek a Boo) in 2002. Little Lou passed in 2005, Razz passed in 2006, And Biggy D passed in 2008. Adopted Bengal cat from relatives (Jazz), and Himilayan (Tazz) from Humane Society end of 2008. Adopted Yorkie from Humane Society April 1, 2009 (Tinkerbell).
My cats hide from strangers. If people stay long enough, they come out to investigate. Except for people who don't care for cats, then they're right there, rubbing on them and up on their laps!
MrKitKat loves to help me cook. He sits on the trash can lid where he can see into the pot or pan. I have to watch him cause he keeps trying to stir stuff!
Tazz (Himi)is the bad boy but like a Yorkie: he's so cute you can't seriously yell at him. He can count too. He likes to lick your fingers individually after you eat. 5 is done, he won't leave you if he's only done 3 or 4! When I go potty, he races into the tub to play peekaboo behind a lace shower curtain. I truly think that he thinks I can't see him!
Jazz (Bengal) is outrageous. His fur is so silky, I could pet him all day long. He is a gentle giant. Except with meat. You must never, never, never leave wrapped or unwrapped meat out even for a second. He can break open the package and have raw pork chop on the floor munching away before you even start counting!
They all love it when I come home from shopping. I don't usually buy them anything special from the grocery store, but they all go through and stick their heads in the bags. I know Jazz is in search of meat, Tazz just does it cause everybody else is doing it, and I caught MrKitKat licking celery one day (?)
I could never live without Yorkies or cats. I am a catdog person. Actually, MrKitKat helped me figure out my 1st Yorkie rescue, Peek a Boo. Peek a Boo comes when you call 'Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty'. I mean like lightning.
Peek humps mrKitKat daily, at least.(odd) And Peek a Boo loves cat food. I really think Peek a Boo was raised with cats and thinks he is one! So I became more accepting of odd catlike behaviors and we get along great now! I even put a little cat food in with his dog food so he doesn't feel like he has to steal it. |
