Well, the good news is that 1) AJ is back home from the vet. They gave him boosters (even though he had another year on his rabies shots), and they cleaned out the puncture wound (drained and washed it out), and gave him some antibiotics. He is much quieter and calmer than usual, but I'm sure he will be just fine.

and 2) Mina was not home when I got back from work, but after calling her (whistling actually, it works, sometimes just saying 'Shrimp' does the trick. At first, nothing. but after about 40 minutes I saw her and was able to coax her back out and brought her home.

The first thing she did: catbox (it must have been a looooooooong night for her) Other than being kind of spookedy, she is fine. Wet nose, no fever, and I could not find any kind of bite or scratch on her, but I'm going to keep a close watch on her in the coming days. Any sign, and I'll take her to the vet too.

The bill for AJ: $100. I have to keep him away from other animals for 45 days. But that is at home, and I can handle that.

I am so relieved! (and suddenly very tired)... I feel as if I could nap now, but I know if I go to sleep now I will be up in the middle of the night tonight and then my work/wake schedule will be all messed up.
