When you feed the puppy be sure it is on its tummy not on its back like you might feed a human baby. Also if you see the puppy is not nursing well, you might want to take to the vet to have her tubed. He will show you how to feed by tube yourself. Thankfully, I never had to do that -- the syringe worked well for me.

Don't feed too much -- it can get in their lungs and cause pneumonia. If milk comes out their nose, slow down.

Good luck to you and the little one!
thanks for helping out....I wish I were there to show and help.. It has been so darn long now.. I too was going to suggest going to the vet for a tube feeding and then learn how to do it.. it is nerve wracking at first.. I learned at midnight.. and was so nervous.. but just took my time.. consistency while feeding is also so important.. you cannot do it by day and leave alone at night. when I tube fed I was able to go to bed for the two hours knowing she had a full tummy... and knew exactly how much she got each time..
on friday they could not do her tail. but subq fluilds were given and that night I began tubing her...and by monday she had gone from 2.5 oz to over 5 by monday.. but got the vet to subq fluilds to her again just to give her the extra boost....anne
