I've heard from several people that rawhide isn't recommended, especially for small dogs. I've also heard that bully sticks are dehydrated cow penis...? Not sure.
Rico loves Nylabones (can be found at Petsmart). They're made from a plastic-y material. He goes crazy over them. However, for my lil 12lb Yorkie, I have to buy the big bones for heavy chewers. He goes through them pretty easily. But they're long enough to grip, which he loves.
I also get real bones (not sure from what animal) that are filled with marrow-y material from Publix (our local supermarket). The bones are clean and don't stain. Even after he's done with the filling, he still loves to bite on the bones for months after!
