Default to board or not to board?! that is the question...

ok, so the boyfriend and i are going to the Florida Keys in August [this will hopefully be a trip to celebrate our engagement, but that's another post...hah] and we are staying at a resort that does not allow pets-we are also flying, and even if we could take them, flying with the dogs make me [and the dogs] very anxious. This will be the first time we have ever traveled without the.

so, taking them is just not possible, and I don't really have anyone here that can keep them-so I am truly stressed about what to do. I have looked at 2 boarding facilities/pet "resorts" that are actually very nice and not at all like your typical 'kennels', but no matter how nice, the thought of leaving them anywhere is really upsetting me. When you get a 'tour' of a facility like that, i just can't help but think that the staff are sort of putting on show-it worries me to think how they are when no one is there. I do not want to change our trip plans, but I know that I am not going to enjoy myself while gone if I am worried about my boys i hate even leaving them at the groomer for heaven's sake!

so, my question is, do any of you board your dogs when you go out of town, and if so, have you had good experiences? both places i looked at also feature doggie daycare programs-if I end up having to do this, I would like to take them for a few days before just for daycare, before I am forced to leave them for a whole week! So they can at least be somewhat familiar with the staff & the place in general.

do I have any other options? And if you can't take them, what do you all do when you leave town?

Thanks in advance!
