Please don't let the cost of college put off plans to further your education. My family didn't have the money to pay for any of my college, and I realized that student loans were inevitable. Believe me- it is painful to write the check each month to pay off the loans, but it is so worth it! I'm not sure about your area, but career choices are extremely limited in my area if you don't have a bachelor's degree of some sort. If you are able to get a job, those in your field with a 4 year degree (or CPA in your case) will have a better chance for advancement opportunities than you. In my field, you almost need a masters in order to be considered for a position because the competition for jobs is quite fierce. The money you make in the future will more than pay off any school loans you need to take out. There are a lot of student loan consolidation companies with graduated payment plans. With this option, you pay less when you are just beginning your career, and as your salary (hopefully!) increases, so do your payments.
Just do the four years now and get it over with. Down the road you will have more expenses and responsibilities that will make going back much more difficult.
By the way...Feel free to PM me if you want to complain about the disgustingly high costs of college tuition or the pain-in-the-butt process of finding the money to actually attend and buy books! LOL! Believe me- you are not alone! |
