What really helped me with the barking was: Whenever he started barking, I went to wherever he was barking, tried to see what he saw and if it was nothing, I just told him, in a soothing voice, that it is nothing. After that he usually calmed down. When there are dogs barking and I can see that Cash is getting ready to bark, I nip it in the bud by saying Uh-uh. He knows that this means no.
As soon as he really gets into the barking, it is hard to stop, so I make sure to sense when he is getting excited and wants to bark.
Remember that the bark is sometimes necessary and you don't want to eliminate it entirely (not that that is possible). So, go see what he is barking at and when you know that it is nothing, tell him. He is also trying to warn you (this is what dogs do in a pack situation), so if the leader checks it out and decides that it is not a threat, the dog will be satisfied.

First dogs are hard, but if you are patient and consistent, taking him to training/puppy classes and keep reading YT, before you know it, you will have a model citizen.
