My Sissy also immediately contracted bordetella from the intranasal innoculation!!!!
It is my understanding the the intranasal is thought to be better protective as it is a "live" innoculation, whereas the actual vaccination injection is non-live and that most who will contract it will do so from the intranasal.
It is pretty easy to treat as long as you begin right away. It can progress rapidly to pneumonia left untreated and can become life threatening.
