I don't think anyone was trying to be snide. It is hard when you see a puppy you know is living in a horrible situation. I have been tempted to rescue a pet shop puppy many times. It is hard to look at their sad faces in those tiny cages. But like Ladymom said, we cannot contribute to the problem. I looked at the page with available Yorkies from that breeder the OP linked, and it is very sad! Some barely resemble Yorkies other than color. As sad as it is to walk away from the puppies who are not to blame -- that is what we have to do. Those greeders will not stop as long as the money comes in. If everyone stops buying, they will find another way to make a living. That is what we really want to see!
Instead of giving the money to the puppymill, greeder, etc.. donate to a Yorkie rescue, look into adopting a rescued puppy, or find a way to legally shut down one of the mills! Buying from one of these unethical breeders saves one dog..... but puts how many more at risk? But believe me, I do understand the initial reaction to want to save that one. |
