I live in a 3 story apt building. I sit on the first step with him and he sit there with me shaking...I pet him and give him treats but when i take a few steps away from that step he looks at me and wont come even for treats.
When I carry him to the end of the block he's a bit more confident I guess and he walks in the direction of the building ONLY and sniffs and uses the bathroom but once he's done he races to go home.
I have taken him a couple blocks from the building and he's a little apprehensive at first but then he walks no problem in any direction that I lead him in, as soon as I turned the corner to our street he knows and puts up a fight if I want to go to the following corner. He's a smart pup and knows which direction we came in too.
Considering he was attacked by another dog he is very in your face with dogs that we meet on my block but that could just be because he's intact . I was thinking about taking him to a dog park but I dont know how he'll interact with loose dogs.
I also am beginning clicker training, could that possibly help?
