Placing an IV is fine and premedicating is fine but not sure why he needs to stay all day. We stay for 1/2 hour after will Ellie. An hour would be being extra safe. They can react a few hours after but then they can react a day or two after too (generally way less severe), so I suppose whatever your vet is comfortable with. There are some really nice vets out there who let the owner stay in the lobby and hold the dog instead of leaving them.
I gave him the benedryl at 4:30...our appt was for 5:00 but they had an emergency and he didnt get his shot until after 5:30...so do you think that is why he reacted? I am going to ask them about me staying for a bit. I hate to leave him there all darn day...
