My yorkie is 4 pounds and 2 yrs old. Im soooo nervous about spaying her because im hearing all these horror stories.

Does anyone know a vet in the los angeles, ca area that has experience with small dogs?? and for a reasonable price?
I called a vet in Beverly Hills and they it would cost $500 - $700 just for a spay!! that cannot be right!!!!!!!

Also, I think shes in heat right now because shes bleeding..... I was told I should wait until its over before I spay her???

Any information would help. Thanks in advance.

Well, I would highly reccommend getting pre-op blood work before you get your little one spayed. Your vet may hold her off until she is a little bit heavier, but it all depends. Fiona had her surgery held off 3 weeks since she came into heat before she was supposed to get spayed. she did really well. i was able to pick her up after surgery, and took her home the same day. your baby will probably get sent home with meds for a week, and you gotta keep them low key, no jumping, no baths, leash walk only, and you gotta keep her incision site clean and dry. The vet should go over everything with you before getting this done, when i was a vet tech we would tell you everything.

good luck, i used to assist with the vet, and spaying and neutering are simple, but yes, i was still nervous when my little one went under, but she did great.....

good luck!
