Definately a HIPPA violation. The insurance company needs to be reported to the HIPPA police. You can probably bring legal action against the insurance company for doing this. (dont quote me-but the doctors office I work for has said that HIPPA violation reporting is encouraged and financial compensation offered to the patient to encourage the patients to report all incidences).
I'd be furious...The ex-wife who opened the package probably knew it was medication and was being nosey, but hard to prove it.
I'd be more worried about the insurance co giving out sensitive information and medication than the ex-wife though.....The insurance co needs to be held responsible for this. |
