petfinder.com Check out petfinder.com. I found one of my dogs that way. My Yorkie Chloe, a puppymill rescue, I adopted from a fostering family (via the Humane society) when she was about a year old, spayed and fairly well potty trained. Of course then the puppymill survivor issues have to be dealt with, but it is rewarding if you are patient. Sometimes rescue groups get puppymill puppies very young. I am considering adopting my third yorkie(I know I am crazy) and he is only a few months old and will cost me about $400. Since he is young he is not really affected by the psychological stuff. It depends on what you want. If you have never had a dog before a puppymill dog might not be for you. I live in Wisconsin and we hope that legislation that will essentially close down puppymills will finally pass this year and remove this shameful industry from this state. |
