I think it's very sweet of you to want to send something, and I'm sure it will touch the family.

I have not lost a child, but I did lose someone very close to me. I would recommend sending a card, with maybe the cutout of a flower, something simple. You might want to write something about a certain post that stuck with you, or what struck you most about Maddie, such as her smile. Tell her that you will remember Maddie, and that she touched you. It can be very comforting to the bereaved to know that other people cared about their loved one and saw why they were special.
