We bitter apple sprayed the daylights out of every cord in reach during Nikko's first month of living with us because we were so worried for his safety (all our cords and outlets are at his level too). Since then, he has chewed a variety of other things he shouldn't, but he has never touched a cord. Definitely get some sort of taste deterrent - everyone has had great suggestions on this thread so far.
