I think waiting to get the puppy until after vacation is an excellent idea. I realize you want to go ahead and get the puppy but she will just be getting established in a routine at home. If that is not possible, then leaving something with your scent will be helpful. Of course, my opinion is rather biased because JoJo is 10 months old and has never been left overnight except to be neutered. It was much worse for his daddy and me than for him. Good luck with your new baby and have a good vacation.
