its ok to give him a bath. just make sure its a warm bath and you keep him warm afterwards. i've always taken a blow dryer to my yorkie (and cats) after bathing to get them dry quickly. never had a problem. I also bath every week. As far as the sanitary area you can ask a groomer to trim it up if you are unsure or you can do it yourself. some just trim the hair on the penis and others will trim that and the area around it to keep him clean.
