I live in AZ so clothes are not wise for my dogs, but my one Yorkie mix does wear sunglasses when we're walking in bright sun. I figure if the sun hurts my eyes, then it's bound to hurt his as well. Small dogs can live 20 years and older dogs do go blind here pretty regularly. The comments are rude, but my little guy's eyesight is more important than their lame opinion.
Worse were the comments I got when the dog on my avatar got CRF from dog food made from tainted Chinese wheat germ. When I took the mix for his walk, she'd want to go to but she couldn't keep up anymore and also was supposed to stay well-hydrated. I bought a papoose style carrier and took her along. One lady even blamed her big dog's aggression toward my other dog (the one walking) because "he's never seen a dog being carried." Not that it was any of her business, I explained why she was being carried and she seemed chagrined. I should have felt bad for embarrassing her, but she got what she deserved. |
I've gotten that a few times. "Where is the rest of your dog?!" was the comment I got today. I don't take too much offense to it but it's pretty sad because Jackson weighs 13 pounds and is not tiny tiny. So I can only imagine the comments I'd get if he were smaller.
