Have you tried sentinetl? I always liked the once a month pill(it's for fleas and heartworms, not ticks though). I don't use it anymore, as it was too costly with 6 dogs.
I have the 2 outside dogs on advantage multi now(think that's what it's called) and it's for fleas, ticks, heartworms, ear mites, etc etc). I haven't seen any fleas or ticks on either one of them, and they're strictly outside
