Gucci is barely getting over KC this week.. thank god! It was a horrific two weeks .. for me and him. He had to live on chicken and rice (which he loved) and he was very not himself ...
. Yorkies can also develop a Collapsed Trachea from the cough and Pneumonia from the Mucous build up etc.
Anyhow on to my point.. It takes 4-7 days to surface, but it can take up to 10. You will notice a Hacking noise in the beginning. Gucci woke up at 6 a.m hacking for 10 minutes like something was stuck and he was trying to clear his throat. I took him to the vet that day, she started him on Clavamox and also gave him some Hydrocodone. The hacking got worse the days that followed and he was spitting up White Mucous and Foam and couldn't rest at all without hacking.. but after about 4 days the worst part had ended and he slowly recovered.
KC is HIGHLY contagious, and Gucci had the Bordatella shot but he still got it
. It is Airborne and doesn't matter if your baby touched hers... he could have contracted it just from breathing in the air at PetSmart. Let's just keep our fingers crossed and hope he didn't.
I will say a prayer for you.. It is very scary to hear them cough so much..and although they can get pneumonia and really ill from it.. they usually DON'T If you get them started on antibiotics early.
