Oakland Referral can do an ultrasound for much less but they are only 60-80% accurate. University of Tennessee is one of the leaders in liver shunt and surgery there is considerably cheaper (under $2000 with diagnostics), so some people travel and have it done there.

How do they know it's a shunt instead of MVD (small shunting throughout the liver that is inoperable)?
