I can understand your confusion. There is so much to learn. If you are not ready for the open class you can always enter him in the American Bred class as long as he was bred in the U.S. Some handlers will enter in American Bred when they already have a dog in open and they are breaking in a new dog. I think you are doing just fine. Even the most experienced exhibitors make mistakes.
