As a breeder. A pup should never leave their mothers until 12 weeks of age. However, if they haven't reached 2 pounds at 12 weeks, they should stay with mom and the breeder until they do. A minimum of 2 shots and vet check (x-rays on hips and knees, bile acid tests, etc) prior to leaving. Mothers do so much training from 8 to 12 weeks of age. Leaving their mothers is very risky, they are just being weaned and suspectible to hyperglycemia at that time. There is also what is known as the fear factor. Nothing, nothing should be changed in a pups routine at 8, 12, 16 or 24 weeks of age. A breeder should do everything to make sure that a puppy is healthy, well socialized and adjusted.
