It won't grow back on it's own if it's a thyroid imbalance. Apples needs to get a thyroid panel done. Lady is hypothyroid and it's very easy to treat. She gets a synthetic thyroid pill twice a day. The pills are very inexpensive, too.

Hypothyroidism is usually found in older dogs, but I would definitely get her checked since she's got the classic rat tail.
