Sophie is not crazy for car rides either. She used to shake and pant and crawl up my body. Now she will sit in my lap. I found if I open the window a bit and leave some air in, she is much better. This Sunday we took a short trip and as we pulled in the driveway and parked, she threw up all over me! Was it the car ride OR was it the carrots I gave her about an hour earlier. It was the first time she had them. I don't know but it may make sense that she might get a tummy ache from the car ride. Either way, try opening the window just enough to circulate some air. That might help.
