My vet also didnt agree with the high protien foods. My dogs didnt do well after a few months of being on a high protien diet. Some dogs just dont handle all that protien well. My dogs definitly needed more in the thier diet then just meat.
3 of my dogs are on science diet's nature's best, lamb and brown rice (21.5 percent protien) and my sheltie is on science diet I/D because he has fatty blood issues.
Not the best food out there, but the not worse either. They like it, are doing well on it and its easy to find.
