I would just try a blue or a green brush and see if it works well for both. Then if it was too soft for thicker hair, you could maybe get a medium softness for Zack.
My own hair is VERY thick, much thicker than Ben's. But I really like the way the blue brush worked through my own hair. It feels really good, is gentle, but still goes through my thick hair to the scalp.
But maybe the vendor can tell us just how much difference in the softness there really is. She said she did notice the blue being softer than the black or pink, but how much, I do not know.
