I would second the suggestion about getting a trainer to come to the house and help you.

When we first got our lab puppy (almost 7 years ago) I found a trainer to come to the house. She worked with us to show us how to train Maddie. It was really a great experience. My kids were involved in the training too. So we were all on the same page. Unfortunately, my husband couldn't make it at the time we did the training, so we had to tell him and show him what we learned.

It really is about training us and then passing things along to our puppies.

We also went out to the park and met up with other dogs that she was training. Later I went on to do an agility class with her.

I have not yet called her to see about training Sadie. I figure I am going to try to do the things I did when we trained Maddie. Maddie is such a good girl now. Doesn't always come when you call her though. Other than that, she is a good girl.

Good luck!
