Yes, I would cut him down pretty short. I like him short anyway and I think it is just easier all the way around, one less thing to worry about. Kalina82 knows what she is talking about. She had some great insight and advice for me. One of them being, make sure he doesn't get caught up in/on pillows. I had Hot Rod in my arms on the couch and was surrounded by pillows and he jumped up and it wasn't very pleasnt. I sat holding him last night but this time I had a big flat surface around us and I held on to him really well. He is also not quite as sore and tender as that very first night. This is what I wound up doing...got Maggie's soft crate that has netting all around and put it on the couch between the hubby and me and he is in there. He can see on both sides and also out the back when we are in the kitchen. Maggie can see him as well and she is definitely curious. I don't know how well you can see his crate but this was taken from the kitchen.
