As for the stairs- We spent a few hours with Layla going up and down and each time she used the stairs she got a treat- even for the week after if we saw her using them - big praise and a treat- now she woudln't even think to jump.
Good answer, Joey still occasionally jumps, when he gets excited by something outside, We say, "No" and put him back on the couch where he then has to use the stairs, so he's learning that even when he's in a hurry, it's better to take the stairs.
