I am reading the puppy whisperer ( highly recommend it) , when they bark at strangers, it says to try to approach the strangers, let your doggie greet them and say hello, dont make it a big deal, offer the stranger a treat to give to your pup and then ask them to pet her, after a few times doing this , your puppy will stop and think of people who walk by as a good thing, Its worked out great for us. In fact I have a treat bag by my front door now, I ask that when someone new comes it, they wait for me to tell her to sit and they can then give her a treat and pet her but ONLY when she sits... this way later in life she is not jumping or barking at guests...I love this book! |
