I'm sure there are other threads out there like this, but I'd thought I'd start my own. Baxter has this habit of barking at people when we are outside. I live in an apartment complex, and when I take him outside, we are near the main road. People walk along the sidewalks all the time, and every time he sees somebody he will start barking and try to run at them. (He is on a harness and leash.) I pull him back, say no, and (try to) make him sit. Usually he'll bark for a minute, then stop and return to finding a place to pee/poop.
I'm wondering if I'm doing the right thing by holding him back, saying "NO" firmly, and making him sit by my legs. He has gotten a LITTLE better about it, but sometimes I have to take him back inside, because he won't stop. It's really embarrassing sometimes!!
Any advice?
