Sometime hormones can cause it. Even food can play a part. I feed carrots as a treat to my yorkies back a few years ago and once they got too many, the effect was their coats started to have orange highlights. Disappeared when I stopped. It could also be genetics or since she gets her hair cut often this may also paly a part. One of my yorkies ended up loosing a very small patch of her hair where her tail begins (she had a litter that kept messing the hair there in that location). It grew back black instead of the blue like it use to be. I know a person that had her yorkie loose some of its hair on its back - accident with a fence. It grew back with the ginger brown highlights mixed in with the coat in that location only.
