I never did the crate bc my are home for 10 hrs at a minimum and that's too long to expect them to hold it. Mine are pee pad trained. I still do have some marking/anxiety issue with my girl, even though she was spayed at 6 months.
Yes there bladders are much smaller, you run the risk of infection from holding pee too long as well. Crate training is good for potty training purposes, but he's gotta be able to have a mid day pee break
