I don't know (but I assume) that the yeast infection your Yorkie has is the same type of yeast infection humans get. Normally we only associate this with human female issues but it's much more prevalent than that. After my husband was hospitalized for a yeast infection in the bloodstream from his IV port, I learned quite a bit about it from reading and from his doctors. Apparently, we not only have the bacteria on us but it is all around us in our daily environment, too. The bacteria thrives on warm, moist places and is often not recognized as a yeast infection at all...for example, a baby's diaper rash and a breaking out commonly referred to as "heat rash" in the groin area or under the band of a bra is (in most cases) actually a yeast infection. (Shocking to me, too...LOL)
