My Brandi was a rescue as well. She is 7 yrs old and I wouldn't trade her for the world. I've only had for six months but it's like I've had her my whole life. We have a very special bond.
Sometimes I feel guilty because I feel like I don't give my cat the same attention. But that probably because she wouldn't let me. You know how cats are.....very independent. Anyway when I first bought Brandi home she was her hair was a mess. She also looked a little gangly and not very pretty. I couldn't really see her face. What I did was take her to the groomers and said cut it all off and lets start from scratch. Well six months later, Brandi's coat is beautiful and I can now see how beautiful a dog she is. No matter where I go with Brandi, people just want to pet her and comment on how cute she is. Even though she is 7 yrs old, she has the face and body of a puppy. She's only 5lbs. I brush her every day and give her a bath on average once every two weeks or so. In fact I just gave her a bath tonight.
It's unbelievable to me how much I love her. With a little time, work and patience, Brandi is no longer this scraggly little yorkie I brought home. My Brandi has gone from the ugly duckling to a beautiful swan. And you can tell by the look in her eyes, that she is extremely happy and grateful that I brought her home with me. |
