IF you are buying a puppy from someone that has done NO genetic testing of those diseases that are prevalent in the different breeds, chances are you are working with a puppy mill or backyard breeder. Bargain prices many not be such a bargain after all if you end up with a genetically defective dog. For those of you looking into the Designer Dogs such as Goldendoodles and Labradoodles, this also applies to them. Any reputable and responsible breeder has certified their breeding stock for diseases that are passed on from parent to offspring. Those would include but not limited to:

• OFA tested Hips & Elbows,
• OFA certified HEART, DNA tests,
• CERF eye exam yearly for 31 different eye diseases,
• SA tests for skin
• DNA test for PRA
• OFA certified Thyroid.

always ask any breeder about these tests. If there has been NO testing done.... DON’T LINE THEIR POCKETS WITH YOUR MONEY. They get your money. You get an ill bred pup with years of health problems and the high cost.
