Each female is different so it is hard to tell. I would say anywhere from 3 to 8 hours. Some females start digging and nesting early in the labor and other don't start digging until the last couple of hours. They will poop several times also once the puppies start moving to the birth canal. Is she having contractions? The best thing to do is get in in a quiet place where she can relax and you can relax too. I always retire to the bedroom with my mommas when they go into labor and I throw a old comforter on the bed and we just lay there and watch tv. Once her contractions start getting hard then I move her to the whelping basket that I lay on the bed. Once hard contractions and pushing starts the first puppy should arrive within 1 hour.
Best of luck to you. Please keep us posted. |
