IMO your vet should have THOUGHT to tell you she had to report the bite.
I would be finding a new vet for sure. I am sure your puppy was scared.
First of all I go into the room with Buddy. I wouldn't have it any other way.
Buddy get's muzzled for his exam. He's a big Yorkie and will give the vet
a warming by trying to nip him so the vet muzzles him because he's scared.
That's fine with me. I don't want him to bite anyone. My vet told me he's
been bit by several of his patients over the years. They have to expect
this and so do the vet tech's. They are professonals and have training in
this field and have to know dog's are scared when they come into the
office. You have a right to be present during the exam if they say
no another reason to get a new vet.
I wouldn't allow my child to go into a room with a doctor without
my presence and I feel the same way about my dog.
I want to see what's going on.
I know it's stressfull. In the state of NY if a dog bites three times
that's it! Scary because some bites are just from fright and the poor
dog can't talk and explain that's way you need to be in the room.
