My Lane sounds a lot like Molly. We rescued Lane just before Christmas last year. She was saved in a puppymill bust. It's funny you say Molly is just like a cat, because that is exactly how Lane behaved when we first got her. Now, she is almost like a completely different dog. I'm sure it helped her to have a well-adjusted dog to model herself after too. Her sister, Rory, has been spoiled since birth. I have a feeling a lot of her odd behaviors will subside over time!

The first night with Lane I was so afraid she wasn't okay - she wouldn't even use the bathroom, anywhere - the carpet would have been a-okay with us at this point. Finally about 4:30 am, she was stirring and we got her up and she made the tiniest little nickel sized spot. She also wouldn't eat anything we offered her. The food they said she was eating at the shelter was untouched, and she didn't want the Evo Rory was eating. The first thing she was interested in was some cheese slices on a plate! Then she ate ice cream. Not the best, but it helped her build her strength. She also would only eat off of a plate and sometimes the floor. Hand feeing didn't interest her either, but I am sure she didn't trust us at that point. Now she gobbles things up right out of our hands. She now eats Evo dry food and Innova wet (out of a dog bowl!), so it might just be a matter of her getting comfortable with the food.

Lane had NO idea what a toy was, and the squeaker scared her. Now she LOVES toys, plays tug with the rope toys, and she and Rory have fun chasing each other for the plush squeaker toys. The rescue told us that she may never play with Rory and certainly would not enjoy doggie daycare. She now attends daily with Rory and LOVES it. I really think the more time that passes the more positive changes you will see!
